CUBA

Fuel shortages in Cuba have caused a sudden spike in the price of food, which has made it almost impossible for thousands of Cuban people to afford basic food staples. The price of a pound of chicken (less than half a kilogram) went from about 18 Cuban pesos, to about 350 pesos a pound.
Pan de Vida aims to help vulnerable people in Cuban communities access quality, hot meals. Our volunteers run breakfast cafes every weekend from ten of our churches in Havana, Mayabeque, Camaguey, Gramma and Santiago. Meals are given free to anyone in need. We also have a new project in Havana which serves a hot meal to a local community every Saturday. We want to expand this initiative by serving more meals to as many vulnerable people as we can. We would love for you to join us!

Alien Rojas Canizares
Hi I'm Alien Rojas and I am married to Susy. I am the founder of the ministry Jesucristo es Rey, which is made up over twenty small house churches in Cuba. After Hurricane Melissa hit in 2025 I felt the urgent need to help local communities around our churches in Santiago by offering free breakfasts to anyone in need. We received hundreds of people within the first weeks. Many who came to eat were so happy to have not just food but to know that people care. We have expanded free breakfasts across ten of our churches across Havana, Maybeque, Camaguey and Gramma. We want to keep opening more breakfast cafes and eventually serve hot lunches for vulnerable people as well. The need seems overwhelming, but its great to see how much of any impact is being made.

Arturo and Vanessa
Hi I'm Arturo, I am from Cuba and my wife Vanessa is from the UK. We live in Havana and we serve food to anyone near our home who are in need of a hot meal. We serve food every Saturday. We try to make each meal nutritious and filling because with the hard situation now in Cuba, for many people it may be the only full meal they have for the day.

Hi, we are Ernesto and Daniela . We live in Havana. A while ago we realised there was a need to serve breakfast every Saturday and Sunday for people in our community. Many people, adults and children do not have enough food to be able to have breakfast. In a short time we have seen peopleś faces smiling again.
